A thoughtfully crafted storybook for children aged 5 to 13, where rich illustrations and immersive storytelling come together to introduce timeless values of leadership rooted in India's greatest scientific achievements.

When Acharya's cricket team loses two matches in a row, his magical thread—Sootra—glows to life and brings him an extraordinary mentor: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Guided by curiosity and heartfelt questions, Acharya journeys through India's most defining moments in science and defence, walking alongside the Missile Man himself as he learns what it truly means to lead.

Rather than teaching lessons through lectures, this story unfolds through gentle conversations, lived experiences, and quiet moments of reflection. As Acharya listens to real stories of failed rocket launches, determined scientists, and a nation refusing to give up, children naturally begin to understand how values like courage, perseverance, and belief in one's team can be practiced in everyday life.

Through warm storytelling and carefully curated illustrations, young readers are softly introduced to India's space and defence legacy—SLV-3, the IGMDP, and Operation Shakti—presented in a way that feels inspiring, accessible, and deeply human.

Perfect for bedtime reading, independent exploration, or meaningful family conversations, this book helps children pause, reflect, and carry forward what they learn when they face their own setbacks at school, on the field, and in daily life.

I bought this book after randomly coming across an Instagram ad. Honestly, I’m not much of a book reader, but I’ve always wanted my son to develop the habit of reading books from a young age. Before handing over any book to him, I thought I should read it myself first.

I just planned to read the introduction… but ended up finishing the whole book, completely ignoring my office work for a while 😄

Somewhere in between, I realized this book isn’t just meant for kids — it’s equally for people like us too.

The language is so simple and beautiful that every scene played in my mind like a movie. While reading, I genuinely felt like I was Acharya himself, listening to Dr. Abdul Kalam speak to me directly.

Such a heartwarming and wonderful book to begin the reading journey with.

Good job Sootra team
